European Regulations on Detergents, October 2005, introduces some changes on detergent’s labelling. Furthermore, additional information about the products will be provided by each manufacturing company via Internet on website like this one. The intention of these changes is to aid all consumers in a safe and efficient use of their detergents.

More details on the ingredients From now on all detergents labels and Internet sites like this one will provide an improved list of the ingredients. This is to help all the people liable to an allergic reaction, to be better informed at the moment of choosing a product. Never the less, for the majority of the people, this must not be a worry, because allergic reaction from detergents are relatively rare.
If you think you have an allergy:
Do not continue to use a product that you may think is the cause of the allergy
Go to your Doctor or Dermatologist
Take with you a list of all the products that you have used during the week prior to the appearance of the allergy, together with their relative packaging "if possible", inform your Doctor or Dermatologist, of any changes in your life style or diet.
Altogether 26 fragrances have been identified by the EU “ Scientific Committee on Consumer Products” (SCCP) as those that, more often, can cause an allergic reaction, therefore these substances are clearly indicated on the label, if present in the product in a concentration higher then 0.01 in weight. Any other preservative substance added to the product will be also specified on the label. Very small quantity of preservatives are present in many detergents to insure that the product quality is durable in time.
Every ingredient, be the fragrance or preservative, is listed with a recognisable international name – the name INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients). By giving to each ingredients a unique name, it will be easy to the consumer in each country to recognise the contents, without the problem of differences in language.
